About Me

I'm Awel, a Software Engineering student at ASTU. I'm genuinely passionate about building things for the web and breaking things in cybersecurity labs — in that order, mostly.

Right now I spend a lot of my time doing CTF challenges, exploring web security, and working on small projects that actually teach me something. I try to keep improving consistently rather than rush for certificates I don't understand yet.

Projects

Things I've built while learning — each one taught me something real.

HTML / CSS / JS

Personal Portfolio Website

The site you're looking at right now. Built from scratch, fully responsive, with smooth animations and a clean layout. Kept iterating on it as I learned more.

Python / MySQL

Login & Auth System

A simple login system with user registration, hashed passwords, and basic session management. Built with Python and MySQL — helped me understand auth fundamentals properly.

Node.js / MySQL

Student Records System

A small CRUD application to manage student data — add, view, update, and delete records. Used Node.js for the backend and MySQL for storage. Good first backend project.

HTML / CSS / JS

Cybersecurity Dashboard UI

A concept dashboard UI for visualizing basic security data — open ports, alerts, system status. Frontend only, but it was a good exercise in layout and data presentation.

Python

CTF Helper Scripts

Small Python scripts I wrote while doing CTFs — base64 decoders, ROT cipher tools, hex converters. Nothing fancy, but they saved a lot of time during competitions.

HTML / CSS

Responsive Landing Pages

A few practice landing pages I built to get better at responsive layouts — flexbox, grid, media queries. Each one was a deliberate attempt to improve something specific.

Cybersecurity Journey

How I've been building my security skills, step by step.

PicoCTF

Solved 100+ challenges covering cryptography, web exploitation, reverse engineering, and forensics. PicoCTF is where I really started to understand how security concepts connect.

TryHackMe

Completed many rooms across different paths — Linux fundamentals, web hacking, networking, and more. TryHackMe's guided approach helped me build a solid practical base.

CSEC_ASTU ENTRANCE CTF

Participated in the CSEC_ASTU ENTRANCE CTF competition. Competing under time pressure with real challenge categories pushed me to think faster and work smarter.

UNIVERSITY CTF

Took part in UNIVERSITY CTF and other university-level cybersecurity challenges. These are a great way to learn alongside peers and see how others approach the same problems. and I score good points in the competition.

Services

What I can help with right now as a student developer.

Web Development

Clean, responsive websites built with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. I focus on simple, functional results that actually work on all devices.

Security Awareness

Basic web security audits, identifying common vulnerabilities, and sharing what I've learned through CTF practice and research.

Python Scripting

Small automation scripts, file processing tools, or utility programs. Nothing too complex, but practical and useful things I can actually build.
